Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Equipment Shop Foreman to oversee the daily operations of our heavy equipment maintenance and repair shop. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled technicians, ensuring the maintenance, repair, and safety of all equipment are completed efficiently and in compliance with company standards. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of heavy machinery maintenance. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics and technicians in the shop, ensuring all maintenance and repair work is completed to company standards and within established timelines.- Oversee the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment including construction machinery, cranes, loaders, excavators, and other fleet vehicles.- Ensure safety protocols and procedures are consistently followed to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.- Schedule and prioritize maintenance and repair tasks, managing workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts inventory, and work completed, ensuring proper documentation for all service actions.- Provide training and mentorship to team members, improving skillsets, productivity, and safety awareness.- Monitor parts inventory and place orders as needed to ensure parts availability for repairs.- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and effective equipment readiness for ongoing projects.- Evaluate the performance of mechanics and technicians, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and recommending corrective actions when necessary.- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to equipment maintenance and workplace safety.- Assist in budget preparation and management for the equipment maintenance department, ensuring cost-effective practices are followed.- Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment malfunctions, often in high-pressure environments. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in heavy equipment maintenance or a related field preferred.- 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.- Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in heavy machinery.- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a team of technicians.- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.- Proficient in using shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer-based maintenance tracking systems.- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.- Comfortable working in various environments, including extreme weather conditions and noisy, dusty conditions.- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
